Right Now

So, I didn’t realize, when I embarked on this journey that is graduate school, that I would have to learn how to be a grad student. I’ve been a good student since I was young. It seemed to come naturally. And like everyone else I screwed up here and there (Chemistry and I weren’t too compatible), but eventually I learned how to overcome those subjects and topics I found difficult or boring. By the time I was taking classes at Rutgers (what I call my “second undergrad experience”), I really was a good, hard-working student.

Then came grad school. Let’s just say I’ve been a bit stressed lately. All I seem to do is read. And when I finish reading, I read some more. And being so far away from M. (2,810 miles according to Google Maps) is insanely hard; I miss being able to just be with him because somehow he always calms me down and really helps me to reorient my perspective. I’m working on it all though. I know what my weaknesses are and am determined to overcome them. I do have some excellent strengths to help me along, but it’s been easy to get a bit discouraged lately. So that’s the state of my affairs right now.

Now, back to reading for me. And I have some good posts in their planning stages that I’ll have up soon (including one delicious recipe). Have a wonderful weekend!
