Genius and Talent

I’ve been thinking a lot about this statement since I’ve come across it two days ago. I wanted to put a picture in this post, but I couldn’t find anything that seemed appropriate, so I made the quote into its own picture.

But back to the quote. There’s a lot of dimensions to it, don’t you agree? When I first read it, I thought a lot about my life and what I want to accomplish (I’m still figuring that out). And the more I thought, the more resonance it had for me. It made me think of the way Karey weaves her beautiful tapestries of language about her life (I fear she’s docking me points for my capital usage — I’m sorry!), Lauren‘s seeming boundless enthusiasm for everything (I’m so happy this girl has some guilty pleasures), and so many other wonderful bloggers and people out there who are so talented (I named two among so many — I wanted to name you all). The real genius of all of them is the way they balance all that they do. Love is the highest priority, the rest follows and sorts itself.

What do you think?

You really are the sweetest and kindest Ms. Brandi. My GOODNESS! I can’t get over it…just seeing my name mentioned in this beautiful post has my heart beating fast. (If only you knew just how many guilty pleasures I really do have! So many…one day I will share these with you)
I, too am continually trying to figure out what it is exactly I am trying to accomplish in my life. I try to do my best to stay true to myself, no trying to fit into other people’s versions, it’s easy to be tempted. Love ad Happiness reign in my book, in whatever form that comes in. Just an abundance of joy and love. So simple, so complicated.

This is a great one. I think we’ll always be trying to figure out what we want to accomplish. I think if we have the best intentions in everything we do we’re actually “accomplishing” things all the time. We just need to live in the moment more and realize this. I do anyway:)

What an excellent quote. It highlights something that I struggle with all of the time. There’s always that push-pull tension between what I want to be and what I’m expected to be, so it really is difficult to decide what kind of work to dedicate my life to.
