A heart was breaking. Somewhere it was lost, between the glasses of champagne (or wine or whiskey) at night and the waves of white snow that arrived with morning. You stood to leave. You waited. But the peaks of the mountains called you back. That feeling was more acute than ever before. You’d fallen in love more than once in the past few days, with people, with ideas, with white lights and accents and a stirred soul. You wanted more time, time late at night when all the secrets spill out, time in the middle of nowhere — because that time you felt like you were everywhere.

how do you do that?
i go from one mood~levity and joy~where i’m with all my blog friends dancing in fancy shoes at alt to somber and ruminative, searching for the enya in my itunes account.
mmm. you missy thang. darn good i say.
love,
katie
you really know how to capture a moment… stunning
What a magical experience you had…and how emotional going home must have been. Your writing is so beautiful….kind of takes us in our minds to memories of our own personal Alts, whatever each of those experiences may be.
xox
I love that last line- feeling like you are everywhere. How do you write so perfectly?
…I do so love mountains. They always bring out the stories in me.
Katie, I know what you mean! I’d just love to have a little cabin on one and spend all day writing.
Absolutely beautiful photo Brandi! It was so wonderful to see you again, I only wish we could have spent some extra time together. We may have to plan a smaller blog-friend-creative retreat.. that’s what Lillian + Piper and I talked about a little. Or a blogger cruise
Can’t wait to see your round up of notes from ALT, I am sure they are amazing.
This is such an amazing post. I’m really inspired now (not that I’m never inspired from your posts).
Michelle, you’re so sweet. I hope you took that inspiration and did something good with it!
wonderful.
“you felt like you were everywhere”
and i love how mountains, both external and within, can do that.
