The Night Sky

When I was young, I wanted to be an astronomer. Even when I was a physics major, astrophysics was my favorite subject. The first time I saw an image of the black hole at the center of our galaxy, I got chills.

Have I told you how I spend most of my days now? I get to interview scientists and write articles for NASA. So I’ve had the chance to fall in love with the night sky again. I couldn’t contain my love this time, and put together a little collection of pieces inspired by the night sky, like the embroidery of the constellations in the nothern hemisphere above, on Houzz.

What are you weaving into your home design right now?

Ooohhh, I feel like just now I’m starting to really become intrigued by space – trying to think about it going on forever is something I haven’t contemplated nearly enough – it blows my mind.

I’ve been slowly integrating themes (but not overly cheesy) of travel in my home. I want my space to feel like an eclectic and curated mix – reflecting my adventures and personal history.

Happy 2012! How wonderful that you’ve fallen in love with the night sky again. It’s quite a thing of beauty! That embroidery piece is lovely. I’m trying to weave color accents and more of my photos into my home decor at the moment.

I love the night sky, too. I am really into deep reds lately and wooden things.

  • Physics major? NASA? This is a whole side of you I didn’t know about! Stephen Hawking is one of my heros.
