A Little Note

The cherry blossoms go into full bloom this week. In the meantime, the magnolia blossoms have been streaking their pink petals all over the neighborhood. I first noticed them on the grounds of the Smithsonian. It really is spring here: there are flowers all over and everyone is getting outdoors.

But that’s not why I’m jotting this little note. I wanted to let you know that I’ll be sending my first special newsletter this week. I wanted a place to share with you some of the things I’ve learned about blogging, particularly in the past few months. First up: giveaways.*

If you’re interested in receiving the newsletter, sign up here. The first few will be about some of the legal issues surrounding blogging, but I suspect the newsletters will change dramatically as I continue to figure out what I want to do in my life and in this space.

In the meantime, I’d love to know what you love and would like to see more of. You can drop me an email or comment below — and you have the option of commenting anonymously today, if you’d so like to.

* An Important Note: I had intended to put out an email about the legal issues surrounding Pinterest, but this post from Symbiartic summed the issue up so well, I’m just telling you to go read it. If you’re like me — or the vast majority of Pinterest users, you probably have been using Pinterest illegally.

Sigh… it is so not Spring here yet.

Can’t wait to see your newsletter! Glad you finally found something to use up some of that free time. Lazy girl!

Pinterest. Sigh. SIGH. What to do about Pinterest? I may just have to cancel my page out before it’s all over. Off to read that article.

Happy 1st day of Spring! xo UB :)

The whole pinterest thing is so interesting. My husband is studying intellectual property so he summarized it all for me. People get all bent out of shape about Pinterest, but in reality I say about 90 percent of the blogging world is blogging illegally also. Then you have blogs and stores with a “pin it” button and it all gets crazy.

  • Beautiful cherry blossoms! I want some. Seattle needs to catch up.

These flowers are beautiful. We only have palm trees here in LA! And a lot of smog.

I have yet to understand Pinterest and the legalities associated with pinning images and using them on blogs. Chances are, I’m probably not doing it right :(

High five on your newsletter! I can’t wait to read more about what you do and have in mind.

    Cheers.

Here’s to spring – I’m ready for warmer weather (which I’ll get tonight when I land). Thanks for sharing everything on pinterest. I don’t have an account right now but it’s good information to consider nonetheless

The Pinterest article freaks me out. I try to only pin from blogs who are ok with it or stores who advocate it but even then, it’s probably questionable, right? I don’t know if it’s worth keeping a page there or not. I do love having that visual bookmarking.

Ooh! A newsletter! How exciting! Definitely signing myself up.

I don’t know what to do about Pinterest. I love it so. stinkin’. much. But the legalities. Oh, the legalities. They scare the bajesus out of me. I’m so torn! I know I should just up and delete my boards but I just… I can’t. So awful, right? I think I’m clinging to the hope that something will change in their terms/conditions asap and all will be right with the world again.
