Slowly Breaking

The absence of sunlight during the winter makes me notice and long for it even more.

I find myself drawn to it, fascinated by it. The way it lights and spills.

The way it creeps into dark corners and streams and mixes with smoke.

In winter, I’m always reminded how luxurious a nap in the afternoon sun can be, how colorful sunrises and sunsets are, how much I need to feel it on my skin.

Beautiful. I definitely miss the sunlight in the winter. College in South Bend was tough as from October – March there is what we like to call a permacloud that hovers overhead. We were lucky for 2 days of sunshine in the winter there!

Now, winter makes me crave coffee, fireplaces, chunky wool socks and epic stories {be it a book or a movie, it must be epic.} Almost every winter I find myself watching things like Lord of the Rings {laugh it up} multiple times to get in my epics.

I just long to be warm again. Not like it’s freezing in California, but it’s always too cold when I get to the office and then I have to sit all day. I’d rather complain about it being too hot than too cold.

Unless I’m at home where I can stay in bed all day.

Also, it will be so nice when it’s still light outside when I get home from work.

You always find the best photos in the Creative Commons. I hear ya. That’s why I love Instagram and capturing these rays of light.

Winter makes me long for reading a book by a fireplace, roasting marshmallows, making smores, sipping hot cocoa & kisses in the snow.

This post is so beautiful! Winter this year makes me wish for warmth, as I moved to Minnesota and it’s ridiculously cold!

Ah winter! After a week of 40 plus degree celcius temperature, I’m gagging for a bit of the cold.

I’m fantasising about being on a comfy couch, jeans and sweater on, cup of tea in hand and a page turner on my lap.

I love to be cosy. Western Australia cannot be described as cosy right now.

what a pretty post on light. it’s such a special thing, how light can really shape a mood and feeling. here in southern california, the light still shines bright alllll day, but there are subtle differences between winter and summer sun. there’s something special about the type of light and sun. :)
