A move back to California is inevitable for me I fear. It’s just a matter of when and how long and what I do there to keep my days occupied. I was reminded of this when I visited my friends Melissa and Betsy’s store in Solana Beach, Bixby & Ball. The ladies had recently renovated their space and it was one of my first stops in the San Diego county area when I stepped off the train.

There’s always something new to fall in love with in their store, and they capture the SoCal style so well that I wished I could bring it all back to DC with me.

The light would never be the same though. Nor would the air.

But I do love Washington, D.C. It has its own charms. But the beach vibe on Capitol Hill? I don’t think it would ever quite work.

Happy weekend, friends! I hope yours is filled with sunshine. I’m off to see friends in Philadelphia tomorrow and catching a baseball game while I’m there. What do you have planned?

Virginie Millefiori is a French jewelry designer living in NYC, who I met while I was there in the fall. She has the cutest accent, and I was charmed by her whimsical designs.

While some pieces have a touch of elegance, others are bright, colorful, and fun.

And because you’re the perfect mixture of whimsy, elegance, and fun, Virginie is offering all NYAO a 15% discount to her etsy store. Just enter the code “BRANDI” when you checkout.

So now you finally know what to buy for that francophile in your life — even if that francophile is you.

Pigeon Toe Ceramics was yet another New York International Gift Fair find, except I had already knew about the gorgeous pieces they made. My first enounter, technically, was a collaboration PTC did with Shanna Murray (I’m still on the waiting list).

I’ve always loved the vibrant colors used for the interiors of the cups and the whimsy of the test tube holders.

I’m not even quite sure what these are used for, but I want one in every shade of blue. And green.

And maybe this bowl would finally have me eating salads again (I find that so hard once the weather turns).

I had the pleasure of seeing the gorgeous textiles from Studiopatro up close at the New York International Gift Fair. I’d seen some of the tea towels around One Sydney Road before, but I loved all the suggestions of things you could do with tea towels on the Studiopatro website.

A tea towel as an impromptu apron? Brilliant. And the perfect way to keep a fresh baguette warm.

Use a tea towel to dry washes veggies (trust me, once you do this, you’ll never go back to paper towels), or wrap a gift.

And with simple bags for the market, Studiopatro really has all of your kitchen/food prep/shopping needs covered.

Do you use tea towels in your home?

Pip & Estella is back with new products and a swanky new site.

I’ve always loved Sana’s taste, but this time, she has me seriously daydreaming.

And at the top of my list: a Sunday brunch, one filled with tea cakes, homemade yogurt, and dangerously thin crepes layered with fresh fruit and whipped cream.

Wander over and tell me what sparks your imagination.

I just found out the lovely ladies of The Nimbus Factory are having a Spring Cleaning Sale on all their products! You can get 15% off with the code “NYAO15OFF”.

You need some recipe cards, don’t you? (Trust me, you do.)

I popped over to my friend Melissa’s boutique, Reverie Daydream (she has a wonderful blog of the same name) this weekend to take a peek around. And do you see the fantastic French Patisserie card sets I found? I know you’re swooning too.

Melissa has a real eye for style and I just love so many of the pieces she has there. The purse would be perfect to help me transfer things between bags, and this journal would be perfect to keep a record of my travels in.

I think it’s time you wander over there yourself…

The moment I saw this picture I became obsessed with finding pink underwear like that. Actually, I’ve recently rediscovered my love for cute intimate apparel like this. And since my goal for this year was to love myself, I can’t think of a better way to feel gorgeous than with ruffly underwear.

I’ve already ordered some. In pink. And navy (with a yellow bow). And I’m considering at least one other shade of blue.

Do you ever find yourself crushing on cute intimate pieces like this?

I’ve been having way too much fun over on Wantist lately. I met Brittany, one of the brain’s behind this brilliant project, at Alt Design Summit. And all I can say is that I’d love to go shopping with her sometime. (Actually, using Wantist, it kinda feels like I am.)

Right now, I’m looking for something stylish for someone domestic. After all, people have birthdays coming up…
