Martha + Macy’s {+ a giveaway}

I have an utter weakness for Robin’s Egg Blue, even if it’s just the slightest touch of it on dinnerware. This translates to a weakness for all things Martha Stewart. Sometimes, I find myself just wandering around Macy’s admiring all the beautiful Martha items.  Let’s face it: this woman really knows what the rest of us want.

That’s why I was glad to hear that Macy’s is hosting a free workshop for multicultural- and woman-owned emerging vendors in New York City this Spring. Martha won’t be there (neither she nor her company are involved), but you could be. If you’re interested in going, I’d suggest looking at the application. You could learn from major industry experts, make some fantastic connection, walk around the streets of NYC in your spare time… And who knows — you could be the next big name.

Here’s a little extra bonus: If you comment on this post, you could win a $50 gift certificate to Macy’s to buy whatever you want. I’d be flattered if you tweeted about it, but I’m not going to give you too many rules for this one. Just comment and tell me something nice. Have I mentioned how nice you are? Like cupcakes.

And I make this promise to the winner (who will be randomly selected at 3pm PST on Friday, February 11th — so you have until then to enter), I won’t attempt to vicariously purchase anything Robin’s Egg Blue through you.

{All images via Macy’s Online Shopping.  Fine print: Martha Stewart is in no way involved with the Macy’s workshop, and I’m receiving no compensation to host this giveaway (it’s all for you). The winner will be selected using random.org and that person’s email address will be sent to my contact who will send out the gift card.}

Update: The winner of the gift card is Mami2jcn. Congrats!

    I’m a big fan of robin’s egg blue myself! I don’t worry about matching patterns and colors of “china” anymore. I just collect as I go when the color speaks to me.

    This is so fun!
    I wish I could visit NY for that workshop, it looks really interesting, but I’m too far (Canada).

    Your blog is like a cupcake, too. It’s beautiful and sweet and always makes me smile. The only difference is that I read your blog in the morning because it’s a lovely day brightener with breakfast… and I can’t say I’d want to eat cupcakes for breakfast. That’s what muffins are for.

    p.s. Thank you for your comments on my recent posts. They were very welcome hugs. And yes, phone date soon.

    I want to be the next Martha Stewart! Well, really I just want her farm (and the staff to go with it.) Don’t much want to put myself on tv.

    I have a love/hate with Martha. My mom has more of just a hate for her. My mom taught me everything that Martha’s ever tried to teach me, so I guess I understand where Momma is coming from. But secretly I do love her! I’m always checking Martha for new crafts and recipes.

    Thank you for sharing information about the Workshop! I am definitely going to stop by and see if I am eligible to attend for my up and coming business! :)

    In the meantime, a gift certificate to Macy’s would be awesome. With birthdays, Valentines, and weddings coming up, a little help along the way would be extra nice.

    And lastly, on the day before the year of the rabbit, I just wanted to wish you a very happy new year Brandi! May 2011 bring you much love and happiness.
